Gloria L. Richer, 93, of Logee St., Woonsocket, died peacefully Saturday evening at Woonsocket Health Care Center. She was the loving wife of the late Robert D. Richer. They were married for 63 years at the time of his passing on April 16, 2014.
Born in Central Falls, she was a daughter of the late Edmond and Antoinette (Lamothe) Lawrence. She was a resident of Woonsocket for most of her life.
Mrs. Richer was employed at several doctors' offices and local banks, Auger’s Men’s store and ACS Industries. She was also a professional seamstress for many years.
Gloria was passionate about music. She participated in many local choirs, enjoyed playing piano and even wrote and published some of her own music on records. She was an avid Scrabble player, and stood fast to her convictions, often voicing her opinions in the editorial page.
Gloria will be remembered as a loving wife and mother who cherished her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her faith and family were at the center of her life.
She is survived by three sons: Robert A. Richer and his wife, Carole, of Charlestown, RI; Charles E. Richer and his wife, Sharon, of South Carolina; and Steven M. Richer and his wife, Lynda, of Woonsocket; four daughters: Denise M. Richer and Louise Richer both of Wakefield, RI; Paula J. Richer of Los Angeles, CA; and Laurie-Ann Krinsky and her husband, Paul, of Manhattan Beach, CA. She was the sister of the late Russell and Edmond Lawrence, Antoinette Bacon and Emilie Gorman. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10:00am in Precious Blood Church, Carrington Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Visiting hours are Wednesday morning from 8:30-9:30 am, prior to Mass, in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket.
