Margaret A. (Whitmer) Field, 88, of New Bedford died Friday October 31, 2014 at Sacred Heart Home. She was the wife of the late William Field.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late John J. and Margaret (Adams) Whitmer, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.
Mrs. Field was formerly employed as a Special Education Teacher for the New Bedford Public School Department until her retirement.
She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary in Freetown.
She received her Bachelor's degree from Southeastern Massachusetts University and her Master's degree from Bridgewater State College.
She is survived by her children, Deborah Quinn, M.D. of Morristown, NJ and Donald Field, PhD and his wife Linda Marino-Field of Morehead City, NC; and nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Lillian Adams.
Her Funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 10 AM.
