Boston – Carlos Tavares DaVeiga, age 52 of New Bedford, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2014 at Brigham and Woman’s Hospital. He was the longtime companion of Stacey Silva and the son of Damasia Mendes (Tavares) and Nolazo DaVeiga. He was born in Praia, Cape Verde and after moving to this country worked as processor in a Fish House.
Carlos loved soccer but held his family and friends closest to his heart.
His family includes his children: Carlos DaVeiga, Carla DaVeiga, Daniel DaVeiga, Djaissy Teixeira, Silias DaVeiga, Karissa Silva, Jasmin Silva, Jeffrey Teixeira, all of New Bedford; 4 grandchildren: Vanilson Andrade, Aylla Andrade, Khairi Monteiro and Julianna Lagoa; 6 siblings: Elizabeth Silva Mendes, Hemogenio Silva Mendes, Arlindo Mendes, Paulo Cergid Mendes, Zaida Mendes and Margarida Mendes as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
His funeral will be on Monday, November 3 beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. and continuing with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Assumption Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place Sunday evening in the funeral home from 5 – 7 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, Ma.
