Obituary

Dieruf Jr., Bill 93 passed away Tuesday Oct.. 28, 2014. Born in Louisville, KY on March 10, 1921, Bill was the oldest son of Bill and Cleo (Hargadon) Dieruf and a life-long resident of Louisville.
A 1939 graduate from St. Xavier High School, he went on to graduate from St. Joseph College-Indiana in 1942. He also proudly served in WWII as a U.S. Army Captain. Bill was married happily for 67 years to his high school sweetheart, Del (Kolb) Dieruf.

In 1946, he opened Dieruf Hardware in Jeffersontown, taught Business Management at U of L from 1954 to 1986, lectured at
National and International business conferences and authored "Successful Management of Independent Business." Known for his sense of humor and for always being very devoted and proud of every member of his family, Bill made a positive impact on others and will be sadly missed.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Del; his sister Jean (Dieruf) Kuhn; and his brothers, Ed, Jim, and Charles Dieruf.

Survivors include his three children, Janis Hennessey (Barry), Karen Dieruf and Bill Dieruf III (Jody); Six Grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am, Monday Nov. 3 at Church of The Ascension 4600 Lynnbrook Dr. with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Visitation will be from 5pm to 8pm Saturday and 2pm to 8pm Sunday with prayer service at 7:30pm at Owen Funeral Home-Jeffersontown 9318 Taylorsville Rd.
