New Bedford – Antonio P. Torres, age 61 of New Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Jose DaSilva Torres and Maria Delores (Perreira) and was the husband of Maria Delores Torres. Born in Ribeira Grande, St. Michael, Azores he moved to this country and worked as the head chef at Inner Bay Restaurant for many years.
His family includes his 2 children: Stanley DaSilva and Shawnetta DaSilva both of Florida; 2 stepchildren: Lisa Amaral and Jason Vieira, both of New Bedford; 6 siblings: Angie Silva wife of John, Joe Torres husband of Maria, Louisa Raposo wife of Duarte, Louie Torres husband of Maria, Connie Santos wife of Herman, and Madeline Bates wife of Brian all of Canada. He was also survived by 9 grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Antonio’s family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Curtis Mello, the nurses and staff at St. Luke’s Hospital ICU and a very special thanks to his PCA Encarnacao Vieira.
Visitation for Mr. Torres will take place in the funeral home on Sunday, from 5 P.M. – 8 P.M. His funeral will be Monday at 8:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
