NASHUA, NH - Rudolph W. “Rudy” Ogden Sr., age 86, a Veteran and former Tewksbury resident, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, at the New Hampshire Veteran’s Home in Tilton, NH, after a long period of declining health. He was the beloved husband for sixty four years of Helen (Coccia) Ogden, who died March 15, 2013.
Mr. Ogden was born in McClure, Virginia, a son of the late Ben and Minerva (Bach) Ogden, and was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944, and served in both the North Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Upon his honorable discharge in 1946, he re-enlisted into the Navy and served until 1950. Until recently, he maintained membership with the Hudson, NH, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 5791.
He settled in Tewksbury to raise his family, and retired to Nashua, NH twenty-five years ago.
His career as a Quality Control Inspector began at Draper Labs in Cambridge and Bedford, MA, and later retired from the Polaroid Company in Waltham.
He is survived by a son, Rudolph W. Ogden Jr., and his wife Patsy (Fletcher) of Nashua; a daughter, Sandy M. Harrington and her husband Larry of Methuen; four beloved grandchildren, Dr. Cheryl Ogden, and Rudolph W. Ogden III both of Hooksett, NH, Caitlin Harrington and Larry Harrington Jr. both of Methuen; three great grandchildren , Laura, Rudy IV, and Jonathan that brought him great joy and pleasure; a brother, Herbert Ogden of Ohio; a sister, Anna Bach of Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Ogden was predeceased by his son, John S. Ogden, who died in 2011.
Memorial visiting hours Friday, November 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. His Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 8, at 11:00 a.m in the funeral home, followed by burial with Navy Honors in Tewksbury Cemetery.
