Ventura
Romeo C. Alvarez, 89, joined our heavenly Father on October 27, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. He was born August 27, 1925. Romeo was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a longtime resident of Saticoy and Ventura.
He worked for the Labor Union 885 until retiring at the age of 55. After retiring, he worked part-time for a few years at Montgomery Ward of Ventura, upon leaving to enjoy a full retirement to pursue his hobbies and interests.
He was a devout Catholic, and a member of Sacred Heart Church in Ventura where he was an usher for many years.
His greatest joys in life were riding his bike every morning on Wells Road, Fishing at the Ventura Pier with his children and grandchildren, gardening, hiking, and collecting items and transforming them into Art.
He is survived by his loving wife, Petra H. Alvarez of 69 years; children Aurora A. Renteria, Genevieve Herrera, Romeo Alvarez Jr., Elizabeth Juenger; 10 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
Family and Friends are invited to visiting hours on Monday November 3, 2014 from 4 to 7pm in the JOSPEH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME, 757 E. Main Street Ventura where a Most Holy Rosary will be recited at 7pm. Interment will be Tuesday November 4, 2014 at 11am in Santa Clara Cemetery, Oxnard.
