Obituary

Beatrice M. Dorgan, 87, a life-long resident of Lawrence, passed away peacefully at Mary Immaculate Nursing Center on Saturday, October 25. Bea was the daughter of the late John Dorgan and Alice Mary (McKew) Dorgan.

Bea graduated from Lawrence High School and McIntosh Business School. She worked at various businesses in Lawrence and later retired from Wang Laboratories. For many years after retirement, Bea volunteered at the Lawrence City Hall. She was especially fond of traveling with her mother and sister to Hawaii, England and Ireland. The three "girls" always made a grand entrance wherever they went. Bea loved to entertain and was hostess to many successful parties. She continued to make every effort to stay in touch with her friends by phone, cards and letters until recently. Bea enjoyed watching Catholic TV, in particular the daily Mass and Rosary. Because of her strong Catholic faith, Bea greatly appreciated and supported the concept of the televised Mass for those who could no longer get out to Mass.

Bea was the past president of the St. Clare League of Catholic Women and past president of the Merrimack Valley Volunteer Corp. She also served as a Board member for the Bellevue Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.

Bea is survived by her nephew James Lever and his wife Maureen. She was predeceased by her loving sister Gertrude Lever and husband Frank, nephew Robert Lever, and great niece Joann Lever Kiley.

A special thank you is extended to her caregivers, Joyce and Jeff Lee and Ella Scione, whose dedicated help allowed Bea to remain in her home as long as possible, to Dr. Michael Gogjian and his staff, the Elder Services organization, and to Steve Gallant for his spiritual support. There is also great comfort in knowing that Bea was in the presence of a compassionate and professional staff during her final days at Mary Immaculate.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to call on Wednesday, October 29 from 3:00 to 7:00 at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, MA.

Her funeral Mass will be on Thursday, October 30 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, St. Augustine Chapel, 128 Ames Street, Lawrence, MA. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.

Donations can be made to charities of one's choice.
