Obituary

Robert (Bob) Paul Dawson, 71, passed away peacefully on Sat., Oct. 18, 2014, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family.

Bob was born in McKees Rocks, PA to Paul Dawson and Mary Telech Dawson. He was a loving husband, brother, and uncle and a great friend to many.

Bob was a retired Vice President of Finance. He had over 30 years of experience, working in the telecommunications industry, including AT&T, Lucent Technologies and IXC Communications. After retirement, Bob continued his involvement in financial consulting. Bob served his community in many memorable ways, including Longboat Key Town Commissioner, Treasurer of Longboat Key Kiwanis Club and S.T.A.R.T. Bob served on the board of SOLVE Maternity Homes. Bob was an active volunteer of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church and served on the Finance and Building Committees of the St. Frances X. Cabrini Catholic Church.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard Dawson.

Bob is survived by his wife, Wendy Carson Dawson of Parrish, FL; father-in-law William Carson of Land O’ Lakes, FL; sister-in-law, Barbara Dawson of Lutherville MD; nephews, Scott Dawson, his wife Brandie and their children Seth, Tabby and Tori of Bel Air, MD; David Dawson and his wife Katia & their children Anya and Nicholas of Greensboro, NC.; and Uncle Mitt Telech from McKees Rocks, PA.

He is also survived by sister-in-law, Kristy Reavis and her husband Robert of Land O’ Lakes, FL; brother-in-law William Carson, Jr. and his wife Joni of Statesville, NC; two nephews Carson Reavis and Jake Carson; and many cousins including Linda Sevich, Rosemary Dell and her husband Flukie, Paul Telech, Allan Telech and her wife Deb, Daniel Telech and his wife Regina, Nicolette Telech and her husband Matthew Dzadovsky, as well as other cousins from Minnesota.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Sat., Oct. 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church, 12001 69th Street East, Parrish, FL, celebrated by Father Jay Jancarz, Pastor. A Wake and Prayer Service will be held on Fri., Oct. 24, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, 720 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton, FL with Father David Baehr presiding. In addition, there will be a graveside service at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum, 200 Padonia Road East, Timonium MD on Sat., Nov. 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.
