Augusta, GA---Mrs. Frances Mallett Tarte, 94, entered into rest on Friday, October 24, 2014 at University Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 27, 2014, in the Storey Chapel at First Baptist Church of Augusta with Dr. Gregory DeLoach officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
Mrs. Tarte was a native of Augusta and was a member of the Augusta Woman’s Club and the “M” Club. She loved the First Baptist Church of Augusta, where she was a member and was a member of the Anna Bannister Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Tarte was preceded in death by her husband, W. Hugh Tarte, sisters, Gladys Mallett Ready and Catherine Mallett LeaMond and a granddaughter, Frances Woodard Pruitt.
She is survived by a son, Gary Trowbridge (Frank Benedetti) of Winston-Salem, NC, a daughter, Ann Trowbridge Woodard of Aiken, SC, grandchildren, Elizabeth Woodard Pollard (Jack) and Kimberly Woodard Verplank (Scott), great grandchildren, Beau Pollard, Morgan Pollard, Michael Pollard (Natalie), Scottie Verplank, Hannah Verplank, Emma Verplank and Heidi Verplank.
Pallbearers will be Richard Harley, Hugh Poplin, Ken Brodie, Dennis Raith, Vince Gnobaitis and Danny Jackson. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Anna Bannister Sunday School Class.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Platt’s Crawford Avenue.
