Obituary

Leslie J. "Les" Gauthier, a 17 year resident of Woodstock, New Hampshire and former 18 year resident of Wilmington and longtime resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Friday, October 24, 2014 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington following an extended illness. He was 82 years old.

Les was born in Medford on November 2, 1931, a son of the late Leslie J. Gauthier and Mary "Gladys" (O'Donnell) Gauthier. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1952. Les enlisted into the United States Air Force and served his country with courage and pride during the Korean Conflict. Les was a sheet metal worker and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local # 17 for over 45 years. He enjoyed playing golf and watching football. He was a member of The Old Charlestown Schoolboys Association, Wilmington Knights of Columbus, Tewksbury Elks and Past Commander of Wilmington American Legion. While living in Charlestown, Les was very active and a coach with the Milt Schmitt hockey program and the Charlestown Pop Warner football program.

Les is the beloved husband of 62 years to Winifred "Winnie" (Geyson) Gauthier. He is the devoted father of Robert Gauthier and his wife Claire of New Hampshire, John Gauthier and his wife Dianna of New Hampshire, Lesley Maher and her husband Joseph of Braintree, Frank Gauthier and his wife Linda of New Hampshire, Nancy Oliver and her husband Jeremy of Texas and the late Jeanne O'Connor and her surviving husband Thomas of Braintree. He is the loving Grampy to 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is the beloved brother of Lawrence Gauthier of Wilmington, Robert Gauthier of Wilmington, Alice Baker of Plymouth and the late Richard Gauthier. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Les's Funeral Mass on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 10 A.M. in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. His burial is private. There are no funeral home visiting hours.
