Obituary

Miss Emily A. Oliver, of Taunton and formerly of Raynham, died Friday, October 24 in the Golden Living Center – Wedgemere following a period of failing health. She was born 86 years ago in Taunton, the daughter of the late Augustus C. and Anne V. (Britton) Oliver, and was known to her many friends as “Puggie.” She was educated in Raynham and Taunton and had been a city resident since 2004. Prior to her retirement, she had assisted her late father with the operation of the former Oliver’s General Store in Raynham for many years. Miss Oliver was a member of the Taunton Golden Agers. She enjoyed playing golf and socializing with her friends.
Emily was one of six children. Her sisters were Teresa Deane, Ann Beauvais, Dottie Taylor and Mary Hathaway, all of Taunton. Her late brother, Augustus C. Oliver, Jr. was killed while serving with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific in 1944. She was the aunt of several nephews and two great nieces. She also leaves many dear friends.
At her request, funeral services and interment will be private. Visiting Hours are respectfully omitted. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to the Taunton Animal Shelter, 821 W. Water St., Taunton, Ma., 02780. Arrangements are under the direction of The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home of Taunton.
