Obituary

BONITA SPRINGS, FL – Rudolph E. “Rudy” Zannoni, 79, of Bonita Springs, Florida and a former resident of Chicopee and Eastham on Cape Cod, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, October 8, 2014. He passed into Eternal Life in the Joanne’s House at Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family and his friends. He was born in Holyoke on October 3, 1935, a beloved son of the late Rudolph E. Zannoni and Germaine V. (Monat) Zannoni. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Mount Carmel Elementary School in Willimansett and attended Holyoke Catholic High School. In 1952, he graduated from Chicopee High School and then entered the Hampden College of Pharmacy in the Willimansett section of Chicopee where he graduated in 1956. He moved to Kansas and entered the United States Army in 1958 and served until 1962. He served in Texas and Munich Germany as a Medical Corpsman and Pharmacist with the US Army 2nd Field Hospital in Munich. In 1967, he returned to Chicopee where he was employed at the former Loiselle Pharmacy. While in Chicopee, he was a longtime member of the Chicopee Lodge of Elks 1849. In1974, he moved to the Town of Eastham on Cape Cod where he resided until 1997. While living in Eastham, he served as a Town Selectman, was a part owner of the Eastham Pharmacy, was a co-founder of the Orleans-Eastham Elks Lodge 2572 and a strong supporter of the Council on Aging. He retired in 1997 and moved to Bonita Springs, Florida where he was a long time member and past Commander of the American Legion Post 0303. Rudy will be missed by all the people whose life he touched along the way. He leaves his loving brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter J. Bishop and his wife, Cynthia, of South Hadley and Harry P. Bishop and his wife, Rosalie of Chicopee; and his many cherished nieces, friends and extended members of the Zannoni and Bishop families. His relatives and friends are invited to attend a Service of Committal with US Army Military Honors on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075.
