Obituary

Roberta Louise (Hefler) Gedutis of East Sandwich died, Wednesday October 22nd at the Essex Pavilion in Hyannis. She was 73. She was the beloved wife of John Gedutis for 51 years.


Roberta was born on February 23, 1941 in Brockton, to the late Harold and Louise (Downey) Hefler. She grew up in Whitman and was a graduate of Whitman-Hanson High School in 1959. She married John in 1963 and they spent 37 years in Shelburne Falls, where they raised their two daughters.

She purchased a consignment shop, Rethreads, in 1987 and was the owner for 12 years and she was also an AARP Tax Aide volunteer for 20 years.

She and John moved to East Sandwich in 2001, where she enjoyed the beach, horseback riding, volunteering at Woods Hole Aquarium, tap dancing and the theater.

Roberta is survived by her husband John, her two daughters, Caroline and her husband Arthur Moseley of Raleigh, North Carolina and Michelle and her husband Jim Aldrich of Francis, Utah and her 5 grandchildren, Zarek, Nathan, Tobianna, Lily and Emily.

Her funeral services will be held on Monday October 27th at 11:00AM in the Hanson Congregational Church, 639 High St. Hanson. Burial will follow in the Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson. Visitation has been omitted by request of the family.Concluding with a gathering in her honor at the Olde Hitching Post Restaurant, Rte 58 Hanson.
