Gertrude E. Thibeault, 86

Gertrude E. (Lehr) Thibeault, age 86, of Attleboro, formerly of Norton, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
She was the beloved wife of the late Donald J. Thibeault to whom she had spent 57 beautiful years of marriage at the time of his death on July 5, 2007.
Born in Boston, MA on January 17, 1938, she was a loving daughter of the late Eugene, Sr. and Emilie (Stather) Lehr.
Gert grew up in Norton and was a graduate of Norton High School. She furthered her studies to become a graduate of Wheaton College; majoring in language.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Thibeault spent a long career in banking at the Bristol County Savings Bank. Following retirement, she had worked part time at the former Raschel’s in Foxboro.
Gert was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Norton and was a member of the former Catholic Women’s Club. She treasured the times spent with her family, especially those with her grandchildren.
Her hobbies included bowling, of which she had bowled on the Bristol County Savings Bank Bowling Team. She was an accomplished seamstress., enjoyed knitting, and had a special love for gardening.
She is survived by her loving and devoted children; Susan M. Dennett of Westhampton, Glenn P. Thibeault of Brattleboro, VT, Mark S. Thibeault of Waynesville, MO, Donna M. Beane of Marlboro and Lisa E. Blanchette of Attleboro. She is also survived by her cherished 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the dear sister of the late Fred Lehr and Eugene Lehr, Jr., and the adoring grandmother of the late Jesse A. Pratt.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday October 29th at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday October 28th from 5-7 PM. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
