S. Lee Taylor, 79, of Fitzgerald, died Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, October 23, 2014, at Crossview Baptist Church in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Jeff Parmer and Dr. Michael Ruffin officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, from 7 to 9, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Taylor was born November 29, 1934 in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Curtis Lee & Etta Johnson Taylor. He was a 1952 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and he lived in the community all of his life. He was former owner and operator of Quality Tax & Accounting for over 50 years and he also owned and operated Fisherman’s Headquarters. Mr. Taylor enjoyed announcing for the Fitzgerald Purple Hurricanes and serving as general manager for the Little League program. Mr. Taylor was a member of Crossview Baptist Church and helped in the construction of the church.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Etta Arthur Taylor of Fitzgerald; sons: Steve & Kathy Taylor of Fitzgerald and Mike & Chrisy Taylor of Ashburn; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and his dog: Buddy Lee Taylor. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Scott Allen Taylor; a daughter: Beth Taylor Smith, a brother: Alton Taylor; and two grandchildren: Emilee B. Taylor and Amber Taylor.
