TAUNTON – Jose “Djidjinho” Fidalga, husband of Francelina (Baptista) Fidalga, died unexpectedly at his Taunton home on Oct. 16, 2014.
He was 77.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde Island, he was the son of the late Nicolau and Benvinda (Barros) Fidalga. Raised and educated in Cape Verde, he moved to Taunton thirty-five years ago and has been a resident ever since.
Mr. Fidalga was employed by Attleboro’s Leach & Garner for many years, retiring in 2002.
He was a member of Christ the Cornerstone Church. Carpentry was Djidjinho’s most enjoyable hobby.
He loved to make people laugh and he always carried a smile.
In addition to his wife, he leaves three daughters, Benvinda Teixeira and Ermelinda DaRosa, both of Taunton and Aduzinda Rodrigues of East Providence; two stepsons, Jorge Silva and Danny Pina, both of Taunton; a stepdaughter, Niceia Duarte of Pawtucket; two sisters, Candida Pina and Ana Costa, both of Pawtucket; eighteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Maria Lomba.
Funeral services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Monday, Oct. 20th at 10 a.m.
Burial will follow at Mayflower Hill Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, Oct. 19th from 4 to 7 p.m.
