Maria Benvinda (do Rego) Aguiar, 82 of Fall River, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014 at the Highlander Nursing Care Center. Born in Santa Barbara, Santo Antonio, Alem Capelas, São Miguel, Açores, she was the wife of Miguel G. Aguiar and the daughter of the late João do Rego Jr. and Maria da Ecarnacão (Ferreira-Arruda) do Rego. Prior to retiring, Maria worked for Shelburne Shirt Mfg. Co as a Machine Operator. She was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church and a member of its Holy Rosary Society.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her 6 children: John Aguiar (wife Fatima), Joe Aguiar, Maria L. Correia (husband Richard), Eddie Aguiar, Ana Aguiar, & Louie Aguiar all of Fall River; siblings: Hilda Tavares & Laura Silva both of Fall River, Belmira Canary of Canada, Guilhermina Aguiar of Westport, Terezinha Medeiros, Victoria Costa, Jose, Gil, & Manuel Rego all of Canada; 9 grandchildren; several nieces & nephews.
Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on SATURDAY at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael’s Church at 9:00 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours FRIDAY 5-8 P.M.
