Mildred May Ashby

Mildred May (Crook) Ashby, 93, of Anderson, passed away October 14, 2014 at Countryside Manor in Anderson due to a recent illness.
She was born on October 26, 1920 in Anderson, the daughter of Willis and Mildred (Davis) Crook and graduated from Anderson High School in 1938.
She was employed as a legal secretary for John Walsh. She was a member of South Meridian Church of God, was a nursing home volunteer and a library volunteer, and was an avid reader and enjoyed painting and needle work. She had also resided in Rogers City, Michigan for 20 years.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Kenneth Leroy Ashby of Anderson, whom she married April 15, 1944; three children, James (Sara) Ashby of Indianapolis; Jack (Candy) Ashby of Naples, FL; Lois (Ashby) Carpenter of Anderson; nineteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and a distant cousin from Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Jeff Rodgers; son-in-law, Bill Carpenter.
The family would like to thank Mildred's neighbors and the members of South Meridian Church for their love and support.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. on Monday, October 20, 2014 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with burial at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. service Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of the donor's choice or South Meridian Church of God.
