Obituary

LACONIA – Jonathan K. Kitto, 56, of 157 Province St., and a longtime resident of the Netherlands, died Friday, October 10, 2014 at Lakes Region General Hospital after a ten month battle with lung cancer.

He was born on May 1, 1958 in Seoul, South Korea, the adopted son of Rev. William James and Gay (Adams) Kitto. He was a graduate of Narragansett Regional High School in Baldwinville, MA. Jonathan served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, serving most recently as a NATO Investigator, retiring as Master Sergeant. During his military service, he received his Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland. He also worked in the Netherlands at Maxima Medisch Centrum in Eindhoven.

Jonathan had a kind and gentle soul. He was a generous person, always helping others and putting their needs above his own. During his time in the Philippines, he received a “Top Cop” award from the local people. He loved animals and enjoyed cooking and fishing. He had a great sense of humor, often teasing loved ones and becoming a “Big Kid” himself when playing with the kids.

He is survived by his daughter, Kaitlin Kitto of De Mortel, Noord-Brabant, Netherlands, one brother, Jeremy Kitto of Bass Harbor, ME, five sisters: Dawn Kitto of Laconia, NH, Kerrie Kitto of West Roxbury, MA, Paula Young of Broken Arrow, OK, Jamie Kitto of Stratford, CT and Robyn Rothamel of Glen Burnie, MD, his close friends; John Verwijst of Oss, Netherlands and Kelly Horgan of Laconia, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, William Kitto.

Memorial calling hours will be held from 4PM to 6:30PM on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, using the Carriage House entrance. A memorial service will immediately follow the calling hours at 6:30PM, also at the funeral home. Burial will be privately held at Pine Crest Cemetery in Charlestown, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to assist homeless veterans to Liberty House, Inc., 75 W. Baker Street, Manchester, NH 03103, to the American Cancer Society, Two Commerce Dr, Ste 110, ¬Bedford, NH 03110 or to Central New Hampshire VNA & Hospice, 780 North Main St, Laconia, NH 03246.
