Obituary

On September 16, 2014, surrounded by family, God called a good man and his faithful servant home. Larry Dee Haynes was born on October 28, 1949 to Allen and Rose Haynes, the oldest of four children. Their bundle of joy was born on their 1st wedding anniversary. He was born in Seneth, Missouri and according to his wife lived up to the clichés of the “show me state” and “the home of the Missouri mule”. His family left Missouri when Larry was 1 and moved to California for 7 years and then on to the Prosser/Grandview area. In April, 1970, he was drafted and enlisted in the Army; serving 1 ½ tours of duty in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in May, 1973. For most of his working life he worked as an auto parts salesman or as a fork lift operator for cold storage companies such as Universal Foods, Columbia Colstor, and Henningsen’s until he medically retired in December, 2006.

On June 9, 1984 he married the love of his life, Roberta “Bobbie” Richman. They were not blessed with children; however their lives were filled with dogs, parrots, fish, and hamsters. He loved to go fishing with his dad and his brother Gary and camping with family (especially with the nieces and nephews). He was a sports fanatic who missed his calling in becoming a sports broadcaster. In 2004 he reconnected with his Lord and Savior and eventually found his church family at the Methodist Church in Benton City; a church that embraced him as much as he loved them.

He is survived by his wife and family of three dogs (Mugsey, Tess and Susie); his mother, Rose Haynes; sister, Linda Denchel and husband Dave; brother, Gary Haynes and wife Lisa; sister, Glenda Bohlke and husband Clynt; 14 awesome nieces and nephews; and 19 great-nieces and great-nephews; plus numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws. He is also survived by some truly loyal friends. He knew how truly blessed he was.

He was greeted in heaven by his dad Allen Haynes; the second love of his life (a conure parrot) named Gabs; his four legged (a doxipom) bedtime back warmer, Fred; and his human laughing buddy, Tom Spicer.

A celebration of Larry’s life with full Military Honors will be held on October 19, 2014 at the American Legion Post #34 at 1029 West Sylvester, Pasco at 1:30 PM. It is requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Benton/Franklin Humane Society and/or to the Benton City Methodist Church. You may sign the online guestbook and leave a message of condolence for the family at www.prosserfuneralhome.com
