Obituary

KIRBY, Beverly A. (Bruneau), of Winthrop, October 8, 2014, at the age of 73. She was the beloved wife of the late Warren A. Kirby Sr. Devoted mother of Warren A. Kirby Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Bradford, David M. Kirby Sr. Julie-Ann Kirby and Matthew P. Kirby all of Winthrop. Adored grandmother of Tyler A. and Gabryella J. Kirby, Nicole M, Tiffany A, and David M. Kirby Jr. Great-grandmother of Makayla and Ethan. Cherished daughter of Emily V. (Badalucco) Bruneau and the late Norman A Bruneau of South Yarmouth. Dear sister of Linda J. May and her husband Paul of Natick. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral from the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. WINTHROP, on Tues, October 14, at 9am. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. John the Evangelist Church-Winthrop, at 10am. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will take place in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Natick. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Mon, Oct. 13, from 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Boston Children's Hospital Trust 401 Park Drive, Suite 602 Boston, MA 02215. Beverly was a graduate of Natick High School. She went on to attend Chandler Secretarial School for Woman, graduating 2nd in her class with honors. With her desire to be a commercial jet pilot, she then attended the Kansas City School of Aeronautics, graduating in the top of her class. Upon returning home she trained with Northeast Airlines, but at that time they did not allow woman pilots. She then decided to become a flight attendant for Northeast Airlines and flew with them for 4 years. Later she attended New England Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences in Funeral Directing where she graduated with a 4.0 GPA and received her funeral director’s license and became employed by the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, where she remained active until her passing. She was member of the Cottage Park Yacht Club Tuesday Afternoon Ladies Bowling League, and for many years enjoyed participating in the Winthrop Lodge of Elks Musicals and Shows with her husband.
