Obituary

WATERTOWN – Margaret A. “Mickey” (Thompson) Rhodes, 64, formerly of Gloucester, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Gloucester on October 29, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Pauline (Muise) Thompson. Mickey attended Gloucester public schools and was employed as a nurses’ aide in Boston until she suffered a stroke in 1994.
She enjoyed traveling, crafts of all kinds, and being the life of the party. Most of all, she enjoyed visits with her grandchildren.
In addition to David Collins, her life partner, she is survived by her daughter, Tawnya Rhodes of Boston; son, Kenneth Rhodes and his wife, Jennifer of Rhode Island; seven grandchildren, Larry Gray, Markita Hubbard, Troy Rhodes, Jasmine Biggs, D’Bargains Biggs and Olivia Nessle; a brother, Douglas Thompson of Gloucester; two sisters, Paula Mattson and her husband, Wayne of Hatfield, and Ruth Johnson and her husband, Charles of Peabody; uncle, John Muise of Gloucester; aunt, Dorothy and her husband, Bill MacGregor of Malden; five nieces and two nephews. She was also predeceased by her sister-in-law, Kelly Ann (Santos) Thompson; aunts, Muriel and her husband, Eugene Meuse, Barbara and her husband Donald McLean and Marie Muise; uncle, Wilfred “Toodie” and his wife Sandra Muise.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday morning in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in the Beechbrook Cemetery.
