LOWELL—Joseph P. O’Neill, 95 years old, died Thursday, December 2nd, at the Wentworth Skilled Care Center. He was the husband of the late Marcella (Shea) O’Neill.
He was born in Lowell, on April 29, 1909, a son of the late Patrick and Anna (Pollard) O’Neill, and was a graduate of the Immaculate Conception Grammar School and Lowell High School.
Mr. O’Neill had been employed for over 60 years as a salesman by the Proctor Paper Company, in Lowell, until his retirement. He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and held membership in the Holy Name of that parish and the Immaculate Conception Cadets. He was also a Past Exalted Ruler of the Lowell Lodge of Elks, #87.
Surviving him are nieces and nephews: William O’Neill, of Dracut; Samuel O’Neill, of Gardner; Edward Gath; Ann Cunha; and Joanne LaBranche, all of Lowell.
He was the brother of the late Arthur, Samuel and Frank O’Neill and Anna Gath.
Friends may call from 2 until 5 PM on Sunday, December 5th, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). His Funeral Mass will be offered Monday, December 6th, at 10:30 AM at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, Lowell. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell.
