Obituary

William H. "Bill" Keniston, a 36 year resident of Minneapolis, Minnesota and formerly of Charlestown, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2014 surrounded by his family in Minneapolis. He was 67 years old.

Bill was born in Boston and raised in Charlestown. He never forgot his roots and was always proud to be a "Townie". He attended St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in 1964. Bill was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. Bill visited home in Charlestown many times and was always happy to be in the company of his family.

Bill and his future wife Mary met at St. Joseph's Indian School in South Dakota and settled in Minneapolis. Bill was an ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) Instructor at Normandale College in Minneapolis. He was a strong advocate for education and was very much involved with students of diverse cultures. Bill was a champion for social justice and was the recipient of citizen awards for his work to provide social opportunities and fair housing for all residents in the Minneapolis community.

Bill is the beloved husband of 40 years to Mary. Devoted father of Billy of Minneapolis, Kathleen Flynn and her husband Casey of Connecticut, Elizabeth of Duxbury. He is the beloved son of the late William and Dorothy Keniston. He is the beloved brother of Mary Lacey of Charlestown and his twin sister Peggy O'Brien of Charlestown and the late Dorothy Greatorex. Bill is also survived by many nieces and nephews of the Lacey, O'Brien, Greatorex and O'Callahan families.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bill's Funeral Mass on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 10 A.M. in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown.

In lieu of flowers, kindly make a memorial donation in Bill's name to Camp Wing at Crossroads for Kids, 119 Myrtle St. Duxbury, Mass. 02332.
