New Bedford – Caroline Almeida, age 84 of New Bedford, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the widow of Leonard Almeida and the daughter of Maria (Tavares) and Michael A. Poirier.
A lifelong resident of this area, Mrs. Almeida was a dedicated mother to her family.
Her family includes her 5 children: David Almeida of Southbridge, Ma, Patricia Anacleto of New Bedford, Kathleen Brindle of Southbridge, Ma, Sandra Dickens and Crystal Almeida, both of New Bedford; 4 brothers: David, James, William and Michael Poirier; 3 sisters: Irene Thibeault, Rosalie Bettencourt and Arlene Cabral; as well as 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
In accordance with her wishes, Mrs. Almeida will be cremated and services are omitted. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, Ma.
