Elmer “Rolly” Roland Willcox Sr., 73, of Ledyard, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014.
Rolly was a fixture at local fairs, both competing in the pony pulling events and on the sidelines as a spectator. He was retired from having worked as an heavy equipment operator for many years. Though a private man, he loved his family deeply.
He is survived by his son, Luke Willcox of Virginia; his stepsons, Charles Rogers, Matthew Morse, and Mark Cappetta; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his children, Martha Willcox (Jenkins) Etie and Elmer Willcox Jr.; and his siblings, Ernestine, Minnie, Sadie, Goldie, Phebe, and Ray “Buster”.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, at Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., Mystic. Burial will be private.
