Eldon W. Wilbur, age 89, of Wayland, formerly of Brockton, died October 5, 2014 at the Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice Residence in Wayland. Eldon was the husband of the late Julia (Savage) Wilbur. Born and raised in Avon, he was the son of the late Frank and Lillian (Snow) Wilbur. Following his graduation from Avon High School in 1942, he enlisted in the Marines. He was a World War II veteran, a Corporal in the Marine Air Corp and stationed in the Marshall Islands and Guam. Over the years he had been employed at the Quincy Shipyard, Producers Dairy, Dow Checks , Ace Surgical Medical Supply and retired from the Raynham Dog Track. Eldon enjoyed dancing, golf, attending football games and the sporting events and activities of his grandchildren.
Eldon is survived by his three children David Wilbur and his wife Ellen of Taunton, Jane Capasso and her husband Rick of Wayland and Tim Wilbur of N. Hoosick, NY; five grandchildren Michael Wilbur, Kevin and Nadia Capasso and Meghan and Katelyn Wilbur; a brother Ernest Wilbur of Brockton, two sisters Janice Chase of Hyannis and Audrey Johnson of Marston Mills and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Eleanor, Robert, Willard and Frederick Wilbur.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton, Thursday 4-7 pm. All are welcome to gather at the funeral home Friday at 10 am for a Funeral Service at 11 am. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery.
