Ozella Matthews Fowler, 83, of Tifton died Sunday, October 5, 2014, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. Frankie McDaniel, Jr. officiating. Mrs. Fowler will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Fowler’s grandsons, Trampus Bromlow, Jimmy Gillespie III, Thomas Daniel Nash, Joseph Bromlow, Chris Mitchell and Frankie McDaniel III will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Fowler was born on April 17, 1931 in Tifton and was the daughter of Joseph David Matthews, Sr. and Tula Homer Purvis Matthews, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Candler Fowler; three children, Mary Frances Sommerfeld, John Fowler and Jerry Johnson; five sisters; and two brothers. She was a retired certified nursing assistant and a homemaker. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
Mrs. Fowler is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ben and Susan Fowler of Ocilla; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Louise Fowler of Tifton, Deborah Ann and Danny Nash of Moultrie, Dell and Jimmy Gillespie of Enigma, Sue and Frankie McDaniel of Hahira and Laura and Leon Walters of Eldorado; two daughters-in-law, Judy Fowler of Burleson, Texas and Susan Johnson of Temple Terrace, Florida; one son-in-law, Al Sommerfeld of Billings, Montana; 25 grandchildren, Donnie Bromlow, Michelle Mitchell, Trampus Bromlow, Kay Martin, Eddie Baker Jr., Vivian Johnson, Thomas Daniel Nash, Brandie Speich, Lane Webb, Jimmy Gillespie III, Shanna Smith, Frankie McDaniel III, Jeannine Taylor, Rhonda Walters, Kevin Walters, Shirley Sommerfeld, Jerry Sommerfeld, Larry Sommerfeld, Teresa Russell, Gary John Sommerfeld, Camille Eckersley, Kim Warren, Hannah Johnson, Christa Johnson and Wesley Johnson; 41 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; and her Yorkie, Cricket.
