Curtis Edward Edwards, 93, of Tifton died Saturday, October 4, 2014, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Tift Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Terrell Roberts officiating. Mr. Edwards will be laid to rest at Waterloo Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Conway Harris officiating at the graveside. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mr. Edwards will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Curtis Howell, Roy Brooks, Tim Jerry, John Gurley, Skyler Welch, Earl Howell and Jerry Edwards will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Edwards was born on October 17, 1920 in Colquitt County and was the son of Zabiel Ishamel Edwards and Irene Feagin Edwards, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Morene Ethridge Edwards, who died in 2011; two daughters, Grace Irene Edwards, who died at three years of age and Frances Walker, who died October 3, 2014; one brother, Roy Edwards; and one sister, Emma Lou Janey. He retired as a field laborer at the Coastal Plains Experiment Station in Tifton and was a member of Tift Avenue Baptist Church.
Mr. Edwards is survived by one son, William Raymond Edwards of Tifton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Frank Sutton of Tifton and Linda and Earl Howell of Valdosta; two sisters, Mildred Ward of Melbourne, Florida and Nadine Baker of Marietta, Florida; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
