Obituary

Augusta, GA – Mr. William Robert Ford, 80, beloved husband of 62 years of Bonne McIlwaine Ford, entered into rest on Sunday, September 28, 2014.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with Rev. Jeff Hines and Rev. Jerry Garvin officiating. Interment to follow in Westover Memorial Park.

Mr. Ford was born in Augusta to the late Willie Joe and Mattie Scoggins Ford. He worked for DuPont and then Westinghouse for 43 years. Mr. Ford’s passion was sports. He was a referee with the Georgia High School Association for over 30 years. Mr. Ford also coached the 1968 Biddy Basketball team to the World Championship. He loved hunting, fishing, and his Georgia Bulldogs.

In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Ford is survived by his daughter, Belinda Ford Estell (Clyde); his brothers, Ray Ford (Janet) and Pat Ford (Jenny); his granddaughter, Aubry Estell; and by his precious dogs, Zoey and Dixie. He was preceded in death by his sister, JoAnne Hughes.

Pallbearers will be his hunting buddies: Junior Bagley, W.E. Eubanks, Chris Brown, Jack Spivey, Billy Murphy, Patrick Ford, and Little Will Ford.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, September 30, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
