Mr. John Franz of Andover, passed away at the Academy Manor Nursing Center in Andover on Sunday, September 28, 2014. He was 70 years old.
Born in Washington, DC, he later moved to Andover where he spent most of his life. John graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1961. He earned his bachelor's degree from Merrimack College in 1965 and his Master's Degree from North Eastern University in 1967.
John retired after a 40 year successful career at Raytheon Company. He enjoyed reading, skiing, spending time at Cape Cod and loved ballroom dancing with the Wilmington Dance Club.
After 47 years of marriage, John is survived by his wife Jean and his two sons, Robert and his wife Jen Franz of Bristol, New Hampshire and James and his wife Kristin Franz of Medford, grandchildren; Olivia, Emma and Jack, brothers; Tom and his wife Diane Franz of Kennebunkport, Maine and William and his wife Donna Franz of Newburyport and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 198 Haggett's Pond Road, Andover on Thursday, October 2, 2014, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2014, in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, from 2 – 6 PM. Interment will held in St. Mary Immaculate Cemetery in Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
