Obituary

Carol Agnes King went home to the Lord suddenly on September 22, 2014. Carol was born the second child to William A. and Helen M. (Kathman) King in Nebraska on July 24, 1945. Upon returning to California after the war, the family lived for a time at the Temescal Ranch in the Piru Canyon. Then, after that, for a year with her grandparents, Dale and Vernie King, on their Piru Canyon cattle ranch. Finally the young family moved into their newly completed home in the town of Piru and this is where Carol grew up.
Carol attended Piru Elementary School, Fillmore Junior High and Fillmore High, graduating from the High School in 1963. She spent 2 years at Ventura College and a year at San Fernando Valley State College, now California State University at Northridge.
Carol worked a few years as a housekeeper/attendant at the Round Rock Rest Home in Piru. During this time, Carol served her Lord by teaching catechism at the San Salvador Catholic Church.
In the early 1980's Carol moved to Oxnard, California where she studied for and received her certificate to be a nurse's aid. She worked at the Ventura County Memorial Hospital until she retired. After retirement, Carol moved back to Fillmore, California where she spent her remaining years.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents William Austin and Helena Mary King. She is survived by 3 sisters and 2 brothers: Margaret Ann (King) Queen, of Oxnard, Dorothy Mae King of Fillmore, Deborah Helen King of Piru, Michael William King of Turlock, California, and James Patrick King of San Miguel, California. Carol is also survived by 9 nieces and nephews, plus 8 great-nieces and great-nephews.
A rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m and services at 10 a.m. on October 8, 2014 at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fillmore followed by interment at Bardsdale Cemetery.
