John Anthony Visconti, of Stoughton, formerly of the West End of Boston and South Boston, passed away on Wednesday November 24, 2004, after a lengthy illness at the home of his sister and under the care of Old Colony Hospice. He was 81 years old.
Born January 24, 1923 in Boston, Massachusetts, he was the beloved son of the late Anthony Visconti and Concetta (Sturniolo) Visconti.
He attended Boston Public Schools and the former Brandeis Vocational High School, also in Boston.
He was an officer with the United States Army during World War II and retired with the rank of PFC.
After serving his country, he returned home and was employed by the City of Boston as an inspector for the Public Works Department for over thirty years.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in the West End of Boston.
He enjoyed walking, trips to Fanueil Hall in Boston and most of all, dancing. He was the recipient of various awards and honors from the Fred Astaire Dancing School.
He is survived by his sister Lucille G. Noe and her husband Jim with whom he resided , a sister Rose Marie Visconti of Chelsea and many nieces and nephews.
He was also a brother to the late Charlotte Sabella.
A Funeral Mass to celebrate John’s life will be held on Thursday December 2, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton Street Rt. 27, Stoughton. The Pastor Rev. Joseph P. McDermott , officiating. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. At his request, visiting hours have been omitted and his interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Old Colony Hospice, 14 Page Terrace, Stoughton,MA 02072 in John’s memory, would be appreciated.
