Obituary

HANSON: Allan S. Arnold, 70, died unexpectedly at his residence in Hanson on Saturday, September 20, 2014.
He was born in Newton on February 7, 1944 the son of the late John W. Arnold and Shirley E. (Gibbs) Arnold.
Allan was the beloved husband of the late Bianca Barbara (Ricci) Arnold who died on May 26, 2013.
He is survived by his sister, Judith L. St. Croix of Wayland. He was the uncle of Scott St. Croix of Whitefield, NH; Kristen June and her husband Joseph June of Shelton, CT; Rebecca Shepard-Olson and her husband Paul Olson of San Diego, CA and Patti Ann Ricci and Anthony Ricci both of Hingham. Great-Uncle of Stephen and Richard St. Croix of Whitefield, NH; Melissa and Emily June of Shelton, CT and Jenna and Lindsey Shepard of San Diego, CA. Son-in-Law of Ralph Ricci and Anna Ricci of Watertown. Brother-in-Law of Paul Ricci and his wife Kelly Ricci of Hingham and Carla Ricci and her husband Stephen McElroy of Boston.
Allan has been a resident of Hanson for over 25 years. He spent his formative years in Wayland and was a graduate of Wayland High School Class of 1962. Upon graduation, Allan entered the military and served during the Vietnam War with the United States Army.
He began his career as a plant engineer designing cable television and telephone distribution systems with Pacific and New England Telephone Companies. For many years he was the co-owner of National Express Studio in Boston, a music recording studio. From 1974 until 2001, he was the warehouse and customer service manager for Cutter Fire Brick Company in Waltham. Upon the request of his employer, Allan joined the Teamsters Union Local 379 which enabled him to bid on many union jobs in the Northeast. He remained with the Teamsters from 2001 until his retirement in 2008. He held various positions with the teamsters and was involved with the “Big Dig” construction project through Testa, Demateo and Harrington Richardson of Boston. When Allan retired he maintained a small home based woodworking shop.
With his late wife Bianca, they raised and showed Doberman pinchers throughout the New England area and were awarded many prizes over the years. He loved sailing, especially in Camden, Maine and on the Cape with his friends.
At the request of his family, there will be no funeral home visitations.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Ridgelawn Cemetery, Highland, Avenue, Watertown.
In lieu of flowers his family suggests that memorial gifts in Allan’s memory may be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
