Jimmy “Ray” Woods, Sr., 68, of Tifton died Thursday, September 25, 2014, in Enigma. His funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, September 29, 2014, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mr. Woods will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 28, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Bobby Mathis, Brandon Harper, Joel Bruce, John Tanner, Lance Golden, Roger Woods, Timmy Domingue and Von Webb will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers Adrian Salter, C. B. Mathis, Don Turner, Earl Blanchard, Kenny Brownlee, Mark Dean, Phil McMillan, Ricky Dean and Dennis Brownlee.
Mr. Woods was born on October 23, 1945 in Tifton and was the son of Jonah Burgman Woods of Tifton and the late Emma Louise Danforth Woods. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Hall Woods, who died in 2006; and one brother, Gene Woods. He retired from Sodexho and was still an active farmer.
In addition to his father, Mr. Woods is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Kasey Woods of Tifton; one daughter, Alicia Couvillon of Tifton; two sisters, Barbara Nasworthy and Reida Evans, both of Tifton; four grandchildren, Cayla Rae Couvillon, Connor Couvillon, Allison Woods and Ashlee Woods; and a special friend, Diane Futrill.
