Mrs. Dorothy C. Doherty, of Wilmington formerly of Melrose passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice Home in Danvers on September 23, 2014 following a lengthy illness. She was 86 years of age. Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Edward T. Doherty Sr. Born in Revere she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (McAvinue) Costello.
Dorothy was raised and educated in Revere and was a graduate of Revere High School. She was extremely devoted to her family and nothing gave her more joy than when she was surrounded by those she loved, especially her cherished grandchildren. Dorothy also enjoyed traveling with friends and family together making many wonderful memories over the years.
In addition to her late parents and husband, Dorothy is predeceased by her brothers, John and Edward Costello. She is survived by her children, Edward Doherty Jr. and his wife Melanie of Virginia, Elaine Dyment and her husband Todd of Wilmington. She was the loving grandmother of Jessica and her husband Charles Marshall - Roberts, Benjamin Wellington, Madeline and James Doherty, Rhiannon and Braeddon Dyment. Loving great grandmother of William Marshall – Roberts, and sister of Helen Condelli of Medford, Claire Ells of Chelsea, Virginia Legner of Jamaica Plain. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 374 Main St., Wilmington, Monday, September 29th, at 9 a.m. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave, WILMINGTON, at 10:00 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home will be on Sunday from 3 thru 7 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
