Obituary

Franklin A. “Frank” Hamlyn, 81, of Sandown, NH passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014 at his home following a period of declining health. He was born on May 21, 1933 in Kennebunk, ME a son of the late Charles and Hilda (Moulton) Hamlyn. He was a resident of New Hampshire for 28 years, formerly living in Hampton, NH and Stoneham, MA. Mr. Hamlyn proudly served his country in the US Army. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Barbara Taylor on June 9, 1957. He worked for many years as a professional civil engineer. He enjoyed square dancing, golfing, jigsaw puzzles and hunting. He was an avid rock collector, spending numerous hours in search of unique varieties.
He is survived by his three children, Candace Ferrell of Christiansburg, VA, Perry Hamlyn of Tewksbury, MA, and Robin Knight of Sandown, eight grandchildren, Rebecca, Rachel, and Joseph Ferrell III; Shannon and Justin Hamlyn; and Amanda, Nathaniel and Jessica Knight, two brothers, Robert Hamlyn of Wells, ME and Donald Hamlyn of Manchester, ME, three sisters, Irene Lovell of California, Dorothy Walker of Gold Canyon, AZ, and Edna McKenney of Portland, ME as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy (Taylor) Hamlyn in 2011 and four of his siblings, Charles Hamlyn, Harold Hamlyn, Margaret Elwell and Thea Low.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, memorial services will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or Autism Society. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry is assisting the family with arrangements.
