Obituary

Rev. J. Alvin. Kriebel
June 3, 1927– September 21, 2014
Rev. James Alvin Kriebel of Anderson died peacefully at home on Sunday, September 21, 2014 following an extended illness. Family and friends will remember his positive attitude, sense of humor and strong work ethic. He was a lifelong learner and was often found studying one of his many books.
Alvin was born and raised in western Pennsylvania, one of 8 children. In 1957 he began Christian ministry and for the next 35 years pastored congregations of the Church of God (Anderson) in western Pennsylvania, Indiana, southern Illinois, Tennessee, and Texas. While in Pennsylvania, Alvin was very involved at Whitehall Camp and Conference Center. In 1984 he moved to Anderson and served at Anderson University. However, Alvin may be best remembered for his gift of healing massage therapy which he shared with a passionate commitment until several weeks before his passing.
Alvin is survived by his wife of 64 years Gloria (Switzer) Kriebel, a son James E. (Denise) Kriebel of Anderson; two daughters Penny L. Kriebel and Linda J. Kriebel of Denver CO; five grandchildren James W (Katie) Kriebel of Anderson, Matthew E. (Mallory) Kriebel of Indianapolis, David A. (Megan) Kriebel of Noblesville; Nicole E. (Steve) Greene of Elkhart; Danielle E. Kriebel of Muncie; and four great-grandchildren. Alvin was preceded in death by his son, Eric D. Kriebel and siblings Kate Allen, Homer Kriebel, Iva Mae Winslow, Earl Kriebel, Edna Kriebel, Arlene Bailey and Mariam Bailey.
