Obituary

CHICOPEE – Irene J. (Walsh) Soukey Morneau Wyman was Called Safely Home on Sunday, September 21, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at Birch Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Chicopee surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Holyoke on September 7, 1919, a beloved daughter of the late John and Ora (Lavallee) Walsh. She was raised in the Aldenville section of Chicopee and lived here for most of her life. Irene was a talented singer, pianist and guitarist who loved performing professionally during her younger years. During her senior years, she performed in numerous senior shows. She enjoyed traveling, camping, the Boston Red Sox and spending time with her family and many friends. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church where she sang in the Church Choir. Irene was predeceased by her three husbands, Harvey Soukey who was the father of her four loving daughters, Homer Morneau and William Wyman. She leaves her four loving daughters, Christine E. Drumm and her husband, Hyatt, of Westfield, Maureen A. Dumas and her husband, Henry, of Feeding Hills, Patricia A. Hartley and her husband, Rick Spiegelman, of West Springfield, and MaryAnn C. DiDomenico and her husband, Val, of Chicopee; her 13 cherished grandchildren; her 11 cherished great-grandchildren; her dear sister-in-law, Barbara Campagna of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family members. Besides her parents and husbands, she was also predeceased by her dear brothers and sister, Gerald Campagna, Norman Campagna and Doris C. Jarry. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will be private at the convenience of her family. There are no visiting hours at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
