Mary S. (Sweeney) Fitzgerald, 87, a life-long resident of Lawrence, passed away on Saturday, September 20th, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on October 6th, 1926 in Lawrence, daughter of the late George C. and Mary Ann (Keegan) Sweeney. Mary was educated in the Bruce School in Lawrence and she was a 1944 graduate of Lawrence High School and later a 1948 graduate of Emmanuel College.
She worked for 40 years as a Journalist for The Lawrence Eagle Tribune, retiring in 1997. Mary was very active in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, formerly Saint Augustine's Chapel in Lawrence, MA.
She was the wife of the late William F. Fitzgerald who passed away in 1975,

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to call on Thursday, September 25th, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, MA.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 26th, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, Saint Augustine's Chapel, 128 Ames Street, Lawrence, MA. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.
