Obituary

Goldie Ada "Red" (Willcox) Collins Robbins, 88, of North Stonington, left her loved ones to join the angels in the comfort of her heavenly home on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, with her family by her side.

Her journey of blessing began Nov. 22, 1925, in Ledyard, to the late Ray Ernest Willcox Sr. and Mary Elvira (Pierce) Willcox.

She was married to Harold Avery "Johnnie" Robbins Sr., who predeceased her on June 26, 1967.

Goldie was the matriarch of her family. She was known by all as a strong and loving woman who welcomed everyone in her home. Her treasured moments were the times she spent with her loved ones, and she always went above and beyond to provide guidance and love for each one. She will be sadly missed by all her loved ones and the many that she has touched over her many years.

Her loved ones include her children, Goldie (Myles) McNierney, Bernardine (Briane) Bennet, Harold (Deborah) Robbins Sr., Johnnie (Wendy) Robbins Sr., Windfield Robbins, Vickie VanHorn, Cathy (Thomas) Britagna, Freddie (Sheryl) Robbins, Debbie (Alan) Lee, Tina (Ronald) Lee, and Rickie Robbins; also 29 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her son, Ruppert (Lila) Robbins Sr.; her son-in-law, John "Jack" VanHorn; and twin great-grandchildren, Tavis and Coral Arnold.

Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., Mystic. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at the Peckham, Main, Brown Cemetery, Iron St., Ledyard.
