COCHITUATE: Mary F. (DiBari) Thorne, 90, died peacefully on Friday morning, September 19, 2014 at the Wayland Nursing and Rehab Center following a period of declining health.
She was born in Boston on July 31, 1924 the daughter of the late Salvatore DiBari and Frances (Quercia) DiBari Mastrorillo.
Mary was the wife of the late Carolous E. Thorne who died on April 24, 1971. She was the mother of Francis A. Thorne of Shrewsbury and Charles E. Thorne of NJ. Grandmother of Christopher Towle of TN; Tracy Downer of MA and Susannah Bobowicz of NJ. Sister of Michael Mastrorillo of Dedham; Isabel Lee of Pearl River, LA; Carolyn Brewster of Keene, NH; Josephine Banks of St. George, UT and the late Rose Norris; Anna White, Angelo DiBari and Antonette Brewster. Also survived by 3 great-grandsons, 1 great-granddaughter and 1 great, great-grandson as well as many nieces and nephews.
She has been a resident of Cochituate for over 70 years, spent her formative years in Boston and was educated through the Boston school system. For many years, she was a nursing assistant at the Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick before retiring. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was a longtime communicant of Saint Zepherin’s Church. She volunteered for the church fairs and was a member of the woman’s club of the church. Mary was devoted to her catholic faith and always helped others in need over the years. She enjoyed gardening at her residence and was very proud that she traveled alone across the country to visit family. She was a very independent person and always tried to find the best in all that she accomplished in her life.
Visitations will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland,
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Saturday, Sept 27, 2014 at 9:00 am followed by her Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am at Good Shepherd Parish at St. Zepherin’s Church, 99 Main St (Rte 27), Cochituate Village, Wayland
Interment will follow at the Thorne family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Cochituate Village, Wayland.
