Obituary

Mandy Weeks-Munford passed away on September 18, 2014 at the age of 38 at her residence in Fitzgerald surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with Ovarian Cancer.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Friday, September 19, 2014, at Central United Methodist Church in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Keith Goodlett and the Rev. B.J. Funk officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.

Mandy was born February 17, 1976, in Tifton, Georgia to Darrell and Carol Hopkins Weeks. She graduated from Fitzgerald High School in 1994. She was extremely competitive in athletics, which led her to play tennis at Georgia State University on a tennis scholarship. She graduated with a degree in Accounting and later obtained her Master’s in Business Administration from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. Mandy was employed by IDI, Inc. for over 10 years while she resided in Atlanta and was currently employed by RR Donnelly and Associates as a Business Analyst. Mandy was a member of Central United Methodist Church of Fitzgerald.

In February of 2003, Mandy married Gregory Munford of Atlanta, Ga. and in November of 2005 had a daughter, Emma Leigh Munford. The couple moved to Mandy’s home town of Fitzgerald in October of 2006.

Mandy lived her life like one of her favorite quotes, “Life is not a dress rehearsal.” She was constantly attending concerts, ballgames, trips to the beach, and more importantly spending time with her daughter, Emma. She will be particularly remembered for her love of family, friends, and competitive spirit.

Mandy is survived by her husband, Gregory Munford of Fitzgerald; her daughter, Emma, age 8, also of Fitzgerald; her parents, Darrell and Carol Weeks of Fitzgerald; a brother, John Weeks of Atlanta; and her grandparents, Loyd and Mildred Benford of Fitzgerald. She also had many other relatives and friends who supported her throughout her life. Mandy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Milton and Mary Hopkins of Osierfield.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank all the numerous people that have cared for Mandy during her journey. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund at 14 Penn Plaza, Suite 1710, New York, NY 10122 and online at www.ocrf.org or to Central United Methodist Church, P.O.
