Obituary

Lawrence G. Marshall, 81, of Acushnet died Tuesday September 16, 2014 peacefully at home with his family after a long illness.

Born and raised in New Bedford, the son of the late John J. and Anne (Bradley) Marshall, he lived in Acushnet for more than 30 years.

Mr. Marshall was formerly employed as a driver for the Southeastern Regional Transit Authority until his retirement. He also had been the former owner of the Cott soda franchise in New Bedford.

Active in Acushnet town affairs, he had been the Chairman of the Board of Appeals for many years, and a member of the Housing Authority, the Cable Advisory Committee, and the School Building Committee.

Survivors include five daughters, Michelle Albert-Dean of New Bedford, Marianne Marshall, Catherine Zahner, and Anne Marshall, all of Acushnet, and Ellen Oliveira of Fall River; a brother, Joseph Marshall of Florida; his devoted friend and former wife, Diana Taber of Westport; eleven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late C. Eileen Marshall and Elizabeth Almeida.

His Funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church, Acushnet at 10 AM.
