George Fromm
Augusta, GA - George R. Fromm, age 89, passed away on September 16th, 2014, surrounded by family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary; three children: Nicki Rimmer; Rick Fromm and wife Sarah; Georgia Perrotta and husband Mark; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister: Patricia Meyer; brothers: Donald Fromm, Robert Fromm; Mr. Fromm was predeceased by his parents: Henry and Beulah Fromm; sisters: Helen Carson, Katherine Riley; brother: William Fromm. Mr. Fromm served 25 years in the United States Navy, retiring as a Lieutenant Commander. He then worked for Helene Curtis Industries in Chicago for 20 years as Director of Product Development. After his second retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Fromm moved to Orlando, FL in 2000 and Augusta, GA in 2012.
Mr. Fromm attended college at the University of Houston and University of Hawaii while in the Navy and finished at Northwestern University. In retirement life, he continued his passion for golf and bowling. In 2006, Mr. Fromm published a full-length fiction novel, But Few May Enter. He was a member of the Retired Officer's Association, the Navy League of the United States, and the BPOE brotherhood.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet with Rev. Greg Hatfield officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until the time of service.
Burial will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, SC. with full military honors.
