Lillian Brenda Whalen, 67, of Morganton, NC died Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Grace Heights Nursing Center in Morganton.
Born September 13, 1947 in Franklin, she was a daughter of the late Frederick Joseph Whalen, Jr. and Ruth Lillian Allen Whalen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Fred J. Whalen, III and a nephew, Adam Whalen.
Miss Whalen was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
Surviving are her brother, Ken Whalen and his wife, Diane of Morganton; nieces, Kristine Vance and husband, Jason of Glen Alpine, NC, Andrea Longo and husband, Mike of Lenoir, Correy Whalen, and Stacy Whalen-Hall and husband, Brock, all of Morganton; nephews, Fred Whalen IV and wife, Hollis of Hickory and Spec. Jonathan Whalen and his wife, Ashley stationed with the U. S. Army at Ft. Drum, New York; and a number of great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2014 at St. Joseph Cemetery in Medway. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P. O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
