Obituary

CHICOPEE – Doris B. (Turcotte) Robidoux, 78, of the Valley View Apartments in the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, September 14, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Blackstone, Massachusetts on September 25, 1935, a beloved daughter of the late Albert O. and Antoinette B. (Rondeau) Turcotte. She was raised in Woonsocket, Rhode Island and later moved to Holyoke where she lived for many years. She was a resident of Chicopee since the 1970’s. She was employed by Ludlow Technical Products in Chicopee and retired in 2000. Following her retirement, she went to work part-time for the Chicopee School Department as a crossing guard and a kitchen worker. During her leisure time, she enjoyed volunteering at the Chicopee Senior Center. She enjoyed bingo and playing cards with her many friends. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. Most of all, she was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend of over 28 years Leo E. Robidoux who was Called Home on February 21, 2000; and her cherished granddaughter, Michelle Gillis who was Called Home on April 3, 1985. She leaves her loving daughters, LuAnn Gillis and her husband, Richard Kocinski, of Chicopee, and Rose E. Robidoux and her longtime companion, Luke Dusza of Agawam; her six cherished grandchildren, Crystal Garvey and her husband, Chris, Shaun Gillis and his partner, Rebecca Wark, Rosaria “Rosie” Robidoux, Ashley Laviera, Raylee Dusza and Teaghan Dusza; her three cherished great-grandsons, George Sidor, III, Shaun Gillis, Jr. and Liam Gillis; her dear brother, Norman Turcotte of Florida; her dear sister-in-law, May Bonafilia of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended members of the Robidoux and Turcotte families. Her funeral will be held on Friday morning, September 19, 2014 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will be private at a later date for her family at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children, (specify Springfield), 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
