Mr. Joseph S. Woodward, Sr., of Fall River and formerly of Taunton, died unexpectedly Thursday, September 11 in Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River. He was the beloved husband of the late Maureen (Paiva) Woodward. He was born 48 years ago in Taunton, the son of Pauline (Vieira) Woodward and the late Walter L. Woodward. He was educated in Taunton and had been a Fall River resident for the past 7 years. Joseph was formerly employed by Grant’s Rental in Bridgewater for 8 years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Jaxon, fantasy football and fishing.
In addition to his mother, of Fall River, he leaves: 2 sons: Joseph S. Woodward, Jr. and Nathan R. Woodward both of Fall River; 1 daughter: Brittni Woodward of Fall River; 1 brother: Walter Woodward and his wife, Paula of Fall River; 2 sisters: Rosie A. Stewart and her husband, Warren of Taunton, and Mary T. Rodrigues and her husband, Carlos of Fall River; 2 grandchildren: Jaxon and Aubrey Woodward, and several nieces and nephews. Joseph was also the brother of the late John H. Woodward.
Visiting Hours will be held at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, Taunton, on Tuesday, September 16, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. A Funeral Service will follow at 8:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Graveside Commital Service will be held at Cedar Knoll Cemetery, Staples Street, East Taunton, on Wednesday, September 17 at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the family.
