Alma Louise (McLean) Towne, 69, of Londonderry, NH, a good and faithful servant of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, lost her battle with cancer on November 28, 2004. She was born in Norwood, MA to Eugene and MaryEtta (Alberts) McLean. She was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Norwood, MA where she and her husband grew up together and married on August 17, 1957. Alma has entered Heaven ahead of her loving husband Milton and her four sons and their families: Steven, his wife Patty and stepson Chris; Gerry, his wife Gloria and children Adam and Julia; Darren, his wife Lisa and stepson Robert; Jeff, his wife Cindy and daughters Andrea and Kelly. Her sister Betty, brother Donald and Auntie Gugga all reside in Massachusetts. She has gone to be with her Mother, Father and four of her brothers: Phillip, Gene, Robert, and Kenneth.
She worked at Kendall Mills and Mason Neilan as a keypunch operator. She worked as a Dutchmaid clothing demonstrator for several years. She moved to Londonderry and worked as an Office Manager at New England Gym Ken and also at SP&R Transportation. Alma was very active member of Christian Women’s Club in Manchester and Salem, NH. She also was involved in Community Bible Study Groups. She was a member of Island Pond Baptist Church in Hampstead, NH. Alma had a beautiful voice and loved choir groups and often sang solos at various churches.
The work she so loved the most and worked the hardest at was being a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother to all of us. Alma will leave a legacy of sharing the good news with all she met and being a true friend to all.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on Thursday December 2nd at 11:00am in Island Pond Baptist Church, 26 N. Salem Rd., Hampstead, NH. The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Alma’s memory to Christian Womens Club, C/O Virginia Rowe, 23 Pine St., Londonderry, NH 03053.
